Identifying the audience that the product is intended for can help narrow down the idea of the product and what features it should have.

Without targeting a specific audience the company will not know who the product is intended for and therefore cant tell how big the market for this product is. For example Netflix can promote a new TV show by putting a count down for the release of it on their website.
There are many simple ways of conducting audience research for a company. Some of the methods including, a survey, face to face interviews, social media engagement and more. The quickest and easiest way to conduct research would be social media, this is because it is a platform that most people these days use and it is a way to contact people in bulk rather than doing single face to face interviews that can take up a lot of time per person.
